Frisbee Dog Debut

Last year after watching in amazement at the Frisbee Dog Competition at Picnic Day Matt declared that he was going to train Toby to enter the competition in 2009. Sure enough, Matt and Toby were out practicing 4-5 times a week for the past 52 weeks. If you've stayed with us or been around our house in the past year Matt has tried to take you out to watch their practice.

Well, it all came to fruition this past Saturday. 33 friends and family members braved the heat and came out to cheer on Matt and Toby.

Here are the fruits of their labor (in case you missed it or just want to see it again):

Okay, so he did not win or even get into the top ten (there were 37 dogs competing) but I think he did great for his first time. Our goal was for him to catch one throw and he caught two!

Lessons learned for next year:
1. try a different frisbee (ours was too floppy and easily pushed by the wind)
2. if the dog before us spends 30 seconds peeing - pour water on it before beginning :) (that what Toby was sniffing in the grass)

relaxing after it's over
