19 months!

Hannah turned 19 months old today!

She celebrated by eating a snack with her friend Joshua!

and feeding her baby dolls milk! (She's getting ready to have a baby brother/sister in the house.)

She weighs about 22 1/2 lbs and is 32 inches tall. Her favorite things are birds and shoes. Some words she likes to say are: dada, mama, shoes (shoooz), baby (bebe), uh-oh, no, and go. She uses baby signs like crazy and can't wait to pull us around the house by our fingers. She is definitely a toddler and is developing quite a will of her own. We can't wait to see what she does next!

the making of a family portrait

For Thanksgiving, all of my extended family traveled to Arizona to be with my grandparents. It had been a few years since we were all in the same place at the same time, so I declared it would a good time for a family picture. (Easier said than done.)

we chose the place and had about 15 minutes to attempt a good picture before Matt & I had to get on the road and go to the airport.

Here was the process:

And here's the final product - not too bad, except Matt is slightly covering grandma's face, but it's the only one that Hannah is not a blur in.

Just in Case!

Just in case we haven't gotten to tell you yet...

Hannah is going to be a big sister!

She wishes she could have told you herself (on the telephone) but the only word she can say about it is "baby".

She's practicing to be a really good big sister.

p.s. the due date is May 14th. The day before Hannah's 2nd birthday. :)

Pismo with the Pelots!

Last weekend we headed to Pismo Beach with our dear friends - the Pelots!

Sadly, Kelly & I both came home sick. But we still had a good time.

James & Matt enjoyed pushing strollers while discussing the finer point of video games.

Hannah was obsessed with the birds

She's getting really good at giving us the baby sign for bird. (The sign is pressing together your pointer finger and thumb, like a bird's beak.)

All the kids (Hannah, Zeke, & Sawyer) enjoyed playing in the sand and water - even though it was freezing cold!

Pismo was a gorgeous place to hang out and a nice change from life in Davis!

morning mohawk

I'm not sure how this happened.

My curly haired child woke up with a very straight mohawk. (seriously, we did nothing to help it.) It just happened.

And it was a really good mohawk - no gel need apply.

Hannah was too tired to see the fun of it!
I thought it was hilarious!

you are what you eat

If the old adage - "you are what you eat" is true, then Hannah is definitely a piece of fruit!

Thus, she was a strawberry for Halloween.

And a ridiculously cute one at that!

She actually did not mind wearing a stem hat!

And she loved the bounce house at the MOPS Trunk or Treat celebration we went to. She stood still and let the bigger kids bounce her around.
Do you think we can find a banana costume for next year?

my muffin man

It's Fall and there's nothing more perfect than pumpkin muffins for breakfast!

The only thing better is not having to make them myself!

Last night Matt announced that he was going to make breakfast and jokingly said he would make muffins. I said, why not? (Just a note, the only thing Matt has baked is chocolate chip cookies about 4 years ago.) So he took out the Joy of Cooking cookbook. (I never use this cookbook because it doesn't have pictures in it.) And he came up with the recipe. This morning he jumped out of bed to get baking.

Hannah & I thought the muffins were delicious!

Thanks for the yummy treat!
